Pro Motion Healthcare – Facts

There are several explanations why physical therapy might be required for kids. It may be that they have cerebral palsy and they need physical therapy to make it easier for them to move their bodies, or maybe they have broken a leg, or maybe somewhere in their body they have weak muscles. As the brain has a lot to do with muscle functioning and learning how to do things such as sitting, walking, and rolling, even those with brain injuries may need to see a physical therapist. There are a variety of different situations and accidents in children that need physical therapy. For a lot of kids and teens, there is even one such condition called Jumper’s knee that becomes a concern. If the child complains around the bottom of the kneecap about tenderness and discomfort, then this could be the issue. During growth spurts, children who are interested in sports appear to have this issue. To maintain control of the discomfort and any inflammation, a physical therapist may use heat and ice as well as ultrasound. The physical therapist also works with exercises like posture exercises to strengthen the knee and build a balance.
Kids, however, are often seriously sprained with knees, broken legs, arms, hands and feet. During physical exercise, they can pull something somewhere or tear a muscle. Both of these events, whether short-term or long-term, require some form of physical therapy. In children who have injured a part of their body, physical therapy is necessary because an injury can potentially stunt growth, so it is vital to ensure that proper growth is prevented by developing adequate alignments and balances within the body.
Facilities
There are several forms of devices that can be used by children attending physical therapy. An example is a safety belt which when they learn how to walk, prevents the child from falling down or stumbling. Crutches can also be used and when the child meets obstacles such as stairs, the child and parents will be taught how to use them. When learning how to walk on crutches, children will also be expected to wear a safety belt so that they do not further harm themselves.
